I suck at flying with the keyboard and mouse, it is as simple as that, I cant keep the aircraft in the sky for more than 30 seconds. So to try and fix the situation I recently invested in a new joystick. Namely the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. This isn’t a review (though that may come in time) it’s a quick few steps you need to do when using a joystick with BF3 as by default the game goes a bit mental when you try and use the joystick until you get the settings ironed out.
- Install drivers and plug in joystick
- Open game in campaign mode or use a settings editor (not used one yet but this one is getting a lot of good reviews http://bf3.realmware.co.uk/settings-editor/)
- Clear all joystick settings from Infrantry/Vehicle
- Get a piece of paper handy and draw out the buttons on your joystick (there is practically no way you are going to remember all the controls the first time you set them) with enough space to be able to label them to the commands
- Clear all joystick settings in the Jets/Helicopters, this stops you having duplicate actions for each key press
- Bind your controls one by one and mark them down on your sheet of paper. This also helps you make sure you set the same controls for both Jets and Helicopters
- Save settings
Enjoy.
